Technical Features
Level IIIA Ballistic Protection
This helmet has been tested in accordance with NIJ Standard 0106.01 for protection against the specified handgun and fragmentation threats.
Level IIIA is a handgun-rated protection level. This helmet is not designed or rated to defeat rifle ammunition.
High-Strength Aramid Shell
The ballistic shell is manufactured from multiple layers of high-strength aramid fiber. The material provides dependable ballistic performance, structural stability and resistance to demanding environmental conditions.
Aramid is also non-magnetic and resistant to corrosion, making it suitable for long-term professional protective applications.
High-Cut Tactical Profile
The FAST high-cut profile provides increased clearance around the ears compared with PASGT and other full-cut helmet styles. This design supports the use of compatible:
- Communication headsets
- Hearing protection
- Eyewear
- Gas masks and respirators
- Helmet-mounted accessories
Because of its high-cut construction, this model offers less coverage around the ears than a full-cut PASGT helmet.
Modular Side Rails
Integrated side rails provide mounting points for compatible tactical accessories. Depending on the rail specification and adapter used, supported equipment may include:
- Helmet-mounted lights
- Action cameras
- Communication headset adapters
- Hearing-protection mounts
- Identification lights
- Face-protection accessories
- Other compatible rail-mounted equipment
Always confirm the rail interface and adapter compatibility before attaching equipment.
Front NVG Shroud
The front shroud provides a mounting interface for compatible night-vision equipment. Retention bungees can help stabilize mounted devices and reduce unwanted movement.
Night-vision devices, mounting arms and adapters are not included unless specifically listed in the selected package.
Adjustable Padded Liner
The internal padded liner distributes helmet weight across multiple contact points. The pads help reduce localized pressure and improve comfort during extended wear.
The removable pad arrangement also allows the internal fit to be adjusted according to head shape and personal preference.
Internal Airflow Space
The liner is designed to maintain space between the wearer’s head and the ballistic shell. This internal air gap supports ventilation and helps reduce heat buildup.
Four-Point Retention System
The adjustable four-point chinstrap helps center and stabilize the helmet. Individual strap adjusters allow the wearer to balance the front, rear and side retention points for a more secure fit.
Quick-Release Buckle
The quick-release buckle allows convenient donning and removal while helping keep the chinstrap secured during normal use.
Reinforced Edge Protection
A reinforced rubber-sealed edge helps protect the perimeter of the ballistic shell against routine wear, moisture and environmental exposure.
Durable Exterior Finish
The textured exterior surface is designed to resist water, oil, vibration and routine field use. Its wipe-clean finish simplifies regular care and maintenance.
Equipment Compatibility
The helmet is designed to accommodate a range of compatible equipment, including:
- Communication headsets
- Hearing protection
- Night-vision mounting systems
- Helmet-mounted lights
- Action cameras
- Protective eyewear
- Face shields
- Gas masks and respirators
- Identification lights
Compatibility depends on the equipment model, mounting adapter, rail interface, NVG shroud specification and helmet size. Confirm compatibility before operational use.
Accessories shown in product or promotional images are not included unless specifically stated in the package description.
Ballistic Threat Performance
When tested under the conditions documented in the applicable laboratory report, the helmet is designed to resist the following handgun threats:
- 9 mm, 115 gr at 1,400 ft/s (428 m/s)
- .357 SIG FMJ FN at 1,430 ft/s (435.8 m/s)
Ballistic performance applies only to the tested model, aramid construction, helmet size and laboratory conditions.
Actual performance may be affected by:
- Projectile type and construction
- Projectile velocity
- Shooting distance
- Impact angle
- Strike location
- Environmental exposure
- Helmet age and condition
- Previous impacts or structural damage
No ballistic helmet can guarantee protection against every projectile, fragment, impact location or operating condition.
Fragmentation Performance
Reported fragmentation test results:
- Fragment Simulating Projectile: 17 gr (1.1 g), .22-caliber FSP
- Reported V50: 2,192 ft/s (668.1 m/s)
- Highest Partial Penetration: 2,212 ft/s (674.2 m/s)
- Lowest Complete Penetration: 2,172 ft/s (662.0 m/s)
V50 is a statistical measurement representing the velocity at which complete and partial penetrations are expected to occur with equal probability under the specified test conditions. It is not a guaranteed protection threshold for every impact.
Fit and Sizing
Available head circumference ranges:
- L: 21.6–23.2 in (55–59 cm)
- XL: 23.2–24.8 in (59–63 cm)
How to Measure
Use a flexible measuring tape and measure around the widest part of the head. Position the tape approximately one inch above the eyebrows and above the ears.
How to Adjust the Helmet
- Select the correct size based on head circumference.
- Position the helmet level on the head.
- Arrange the internal pads to distribute pressure evenly.
- Adjust the suspension to reduce excessive movement.
- Center the chin cup beneath the chin.
- Tighten all four retention straps evenly.
- Confirm that the helmet remains stable when moving the head.
- Check that mounted equipment does not interfere with vision, hearing or retention.
The helmet should fit securely without creating painful pressure points or obstructing the wearer’s vision.
