Product description

Description

The PASGT Level IIIA Aramid Ballistic Helmet combines the extended coverage of a traditional full-cut PASGT profile with a durable aramid-fiber shell. Its design provides increased coverage around the front, sides, ears and rear of the head while maintaining a stable and comfortable fit.

An adjustable suspension system, moisture-managing comfort pads and a four-point chinstrap help distribute weight and reduce pressure during extended wear. The helmet is intended for law enforcement, security, military training and other authorized protective applications.

Threat Rating and Standard

This helmet is independently tested for Level IIIA ballistic performance against the following handgun threats:

  • 9 mm, 115 gr at 1,400 ft/s (428 m/s)
  • .357 SIG FMJ FN at 1,430 ft/s (435.8 m/s)

Testing evaluates resistance to penetration under controlled laboratory conditions. The referenced ballistic helmet standard is NIJ Standard 0106.01.

Level IIIA is a handgun-rated protection level. This helmet is not rated to defeat rifle threats such as 5.56×45 mm, 7.62×39 mm or 7.62×51 mm ammunition unless separate, model-specific testing explicitly states otherwise.

Fragmentation Performance

Fragmentation resistance is evaluated using a .22-caliber Fragment Simulating Projectile under controlled test conditions.

  • Fragment Simulating Projectile: 17 gr (1.1 g), .22-caliber FSP
  • Reported V50: 2,192 ft/s (668.1 m/s)
  • Highest Partial Penetration: 2,212 ft/s (674.2 m/s)
  • Lowest Complete Penetration: 2,172 ft/s (662.0 m/s)

V50 represents the velocity at which complete and partial penetrations are statistically expected to occur with equal probability. Fragmentation results apply only to the tested helmet model, construction and test conditions.

Extended PASGT Coverage

The full-cut PASGT profile is designed to provide broader coverage than high-cut helmet designs. It extends protection around:

  • The front of the head
  • The sides and temple areas
  • The ears
  • The lower rear of the head

This extended profile is suitable for users who prioritize coverage over the additional accessory and headset clearance offered by high-cut helmets.

Adjustable Comfort System

The internal suspension system combines adjustable webbing with a seven-pad liner to provide a stable and personalized fit. The padding distributes contact pressure across multiple areas and helps maintain space between the head and the helmet shell.

Key comfort features include:

  • Seven-point padded contact system
  • Moisture-managing comfort material
  • Adjustable crown and side straps
  • Improved internal airflow
  • Replaceable and repositionable padding
  • Balanced weight distribution

Secure Four-Point Retention

The four-point retention system helps stabilize the helmet during movement. Adjustable straps allow the wearer to center the helmet and customize the fit around the head and chin.

The quick-release buckle allows convenient removal while the padded chin support helps reduce localized pressure.

Size Guide

Measure around the widest part of the head, approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) above the eyebrows and ears.

  • L: 21.6–23.2 in (55–59 cm)
  • XL: 23.2–24.8 in (59–63 cm)

If your measurement falls between two sizes, consider the thickness of any balaclava, communications headset or additional liner that will be worn with the helmet.

A correct fit should feel secure without creating uncomfortable pressure points. The helmet should not shift excessively when the wearer moves or turns their head.

Package Includes

  • PASGT Aramid Ballistic Helmet
  • Adjustable seven-pad liner
  • Four-point retention system
  • Quick-release buckle
  • Product documentation

Only include additional accessories in this list if they are supplied with the selected product configuration.

Care and Maintenance

  • Wipe the shell with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Use mild soap when necessary.
  • Do not use bleach, solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Allow the helmet to air-dry completely before storage.
  • Keep it away from prolonged heat, direct sunlight and excessive moisture.
  • Inspect the shell, edge seal, padding, straps and buckle before use.
  • Do not drill, cut, paint or otherwise modify the ballistic shell.
  • Replace damaged or excessively worn suspension components.
  • Remove the helmet from service after a ballistic impact or suspected structural damage.

Inspection and Service Life

Inspect the helmet regularly for:

  • Cracks, dents or deformation
  • Soft or separated areas in the shell
  • Damage to the edge seal
  • Loose or corroded hardware
  • Torn webbing
  • Damaged buckles
  • Compressed or deteriorated padding
  • Signs of exposure to chemicals, excessive heat or moisture

The usable service life depends on storage, environmental exposure, frequency of use and the manufacturer’s ballistic warranty. The production date, serial or batch number and recommended replacement period should be checked before use.

Testing and Documentation

This helmet is independently tested in accordance with NIJ Standard 0106.01 for Level IIIA ballistic performance, including the specified handgun and fragmentation threats.

Detailed test documentation should identify:

  • Exact helmet model
  • Shell material and construction
  • Test laboratory
  • Report number
  • Test date
  • Projectile type and weight
  • Impact velocity
  • Penetration results
  • Fragmentation performance

Test reports and supporting documentation should be available for product verification.

Important Information

Ballistic protection is threat-specific. Performance may be affected by projectile type, velocity, impact angle, strike location, environmental exposure, product condition and previous impacts.

No ballistic helmet can guarantee protection against every projectile or circumstance. The helmet should be used as one component of a properly selected protective equipment system an
